My Most Random Post Yet?

One of my favorite weekend morning activities, as nerdy as it sounds, is to brew some coffee, sit down at my desk in my office/hobby room, put on some music, and work on populating my collection on Zistle.  Here are a bunch of cards that got inventoried and added just this morning...

I've pulled a few of these 2005 Donruss cards from $1 grab bags offered at a hobby shop a little ways from my house.  I really like the look of these cards, enough so that I'd think about putting the set together if I could ever find a box on the cheap.

Switching over to football now.  I don't collect football cards per se, but I am a Pats fan and an NFL fan in general.  I'm definitely looking forward to gorging myself and enjoying the full slate of games tomorrow.

Here's one that I plucked from the dollar box at a local shop a while back, from the 1975-76 Topps hockey set.  The mid-'70s were a great time for Clarke and the Flyers, and with very few '75-76 Topps cards in my collection this mint copy was too good to pass on for a buck.

The back's a little busy, but I like it better than at least 50% of modern card backs.

A new one for my small Sergei Fedorov collection.  This Division's Finest insert from 1994-95 Topps Finest is actually an acetate material and the card is transparent.  Definitely one of those that looks ten times better in hand than it does in a scan.

This 2009 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee preview card of Daisuke Matsuzaka came from the same dollar box as the Bobby Clarke card.  I probably overpaid for this one in hindsight, but I didn't recall having seen it before and I liked the retro feel.  The 2009 O-Pee-Chee set ended up looking nothing like this.

Why not hit on the last of the four major sports?  I don't really follow basketball at all, but as a Boston sports fan Reggie Lewis is a name you know (for an unfortunate reason).  This is my only card of the young star who passed in his prime.

This Bill Russell is just an everyday common from 2007-08 Topps, but it's easily one of my favorite basketball cards in my extremely small collection.  A great action photo of one of the biggest names in Boston sports history, period.  I'd love to own a '61 Fleer Russell someday, but it's unlikely I'd ever spend that much on a basketball card, so this fits the bill for now.

Here's another Fedorov insert, this time from Leaf.  If the design doesn't scream '90s, the fact that it's serial numbered to just 10,000 copies on the back certainly does!

I ran across a small pile of these Victory rookies, including some decent names as you can see.

Even a gold parallel of Jamie Benn.  I'll probably end up trading these away at some point.

Switching over to soccer, here's another card from the fantastic 1960 A & BC Gum set.  No offense to the man, I know nothing about him, but based on that photo I would have thought his last name was "enstein", not haffey.

In closing here's a really random card that I felt the need to bid on while trolling around on eBay a while back.  It's actually a team logo sticker from a set put out by Fleer in 1960 and is slightly smaller than a modern day card.  It doesn't fit into my collection at all, but I find cards of teams that no longer exist appealing, and this logo is terrific.  I couldn't resist grabbing it up, especially since the winning bid ended up being just $4 and change.

I don't think nowadays you'd get away with your mascot smoking...
