I'm sure most collectors know the feeling of stumbling across a card that you didn't even know existed, and immediately realizing that you "have to have it". Such was the case when I recently discovered Terry Sawchuk's 2014-15 Upper Deck Canvas card while browsing around eBay. As soon as I laid eyes on it I spent about 15 minutes tracking down the cheapest copy I could find and pulled the trigger immediately. Four days later the card was in my mailbox. Here's the card I just couldn't resist:
I'm a big fan of Upper Deck Canvas cards as it is, and this killer shot of Sawchuk in front of the fans is just perfect if you ask me. An interesting goalie mask is a surefire way to make a card attractive to me as a hockey collector. I love the angle and the way the card is framed, giving you a good shot at the anxious and interested crowd in the stands.
I commend Upper Deck for using a different photo on the back, and one that seems to justify the existence of the mask I enjoyed so much on the front!
One of my favorite hockey cards of the year so far! There are a couple of other Canvas retired stars cards I may take a crack at if I can find them cheap enough, but if not I'm more than happy with just this example in my collection!

Oh wow, that's a great card. I saw him play for the Rangers way back when. His death was a very weird story.
I need to pick this card up.
Yeah not to be morbid or anything but his death is definitely one of the more strange athlete deaths I've ever heard of. Glad someone else had the same feeling of needing to get a copy as I did when I first saw it!
Amazing card!
That card reeks of awesomeness. Sweet pick up.
"Shutout" The Legend Of Terry Sawchuk is a decent read.
One word for that card.
Excellent.
Very nice pickup!
Very nice
Yup that's a dandy. I can definitely see why it was classified as a "must have!"
Awesome card. I've always had a soft spot for UD Canvas parallels.
