Today's card is actually one of the earliest that I purchased when I returned to the hobby as an adult with disposable income. Picked it up all the way back in June of 2007, and never got around to showing it here on the blog. Time to right that wrong!
What a beautiful example of Whitey Ford's 1959 Topps card. I've had this one stashed away since long before I started working on the '59 set a couple of years back, so it's nice to run across this card again and officially include Ford in my set build now. Feels good crossing another HOFer off the list.
Whitey had a good season with New York in 1959, though it wasn't one of the finer seasons in his illustrious career by any means. He was named an All-Star, which was pretty much a guarantee for him throughout the '50s and early '60s. The Yankees finished third in the American League that year.
That's all I've got for today's quick post on a Friday. I've got the finale of my Christmas gift re-pack scheduled for tomorrow, and a Signature Sundays post queued up for Sunday, so check back here later if you're bored. Hope you all enjoy the weekend!
