Signature Sundays - Reggie Jackson & a Bonus Card

Meant to post this one last Sunday, as it was still October, plus the World Series was ongoing. The flu got the best of me though and I was offline for a couple days. Oh well, better late than never...

I've been enamored with the 1995 Upper Deck baseball and hockey releases since I first laid eyes on them as a 12-year-old.  I only became aware of the autographed cards a few years ago as an adult, though.  While they're impressive cards, featuring on-card signatures from some of the biggest names in the game, I never bothered to seek them out, assuming they were outside the price range of what I'd be willing to pay.

That all changed a few weeks ago when I was browsing around eBay late one night.  One of those occasions where I just searched the sports card category for "autograph" to see what happened to be ending in the next few minutes.  There was Reggie, sitting atop the search results with a starting price of $19.99 and no bids.  I tossed a $20 bid in, fully expected to be out-sniped at the last second, but it stuck and I can now add Jackson's name to my autograph collection.

So there you have it, a Mr. October autograph in...well, November.  Stupid flu.

Even came with the nice Certificate of Authenticity from Upper Deck.  I guess this would be useful if I ever re-sold it, though I don't plan to.  I haven't bothered researching to see whether I paid too much for this, or got a bargain.  The way I see it this set me back exactly what a blaster would have from my local big box retail store, and at that price I'll gladly take this card any day.

The seller offered a deal where there was no additional shipping charge for a second card.  I decided on this '52 Topps Monte Kennedy because it was very reasonably priced, and because I love extinct (or migrated, in this case) franchises like the New York Giants.

Problem is, I've already got one.  Any of my trading partners interested in this?

I would like the '52 Kennedy, but I will gladly yield to anybody who has a better reason for wanting the card other than "I'm mildly embarrassed that I have only one card from 1952 Topps, so I would like to add more".

You got it Joe, I'll set it aside for your next PWE (which might actually end up being a small padded envelope since the '52 is a bit large for my standard PWE method).
