Quick Trades - Night Owl and SCftDS

I'm beginning to get backlogged with trade posts.  This is a good problem to have, as it speaks to the generosity of those that share this hobby, but the mess on my desk is starting to get to me.  In an effort to catch up, I'm going to hit two small envelopes that arrived over the past week or so in one post.

The first was from Greg of Night Owl Cards.  He was kind enough to ship me a small stack of Red Sox.  Out of the 15 or so he sent, I needed 8.  Given that he sent these "blind" those are pretty good numbers!

I find it hard to believe that I have any odd-ball Red Sox cards left to track down at this point, given how many I've got in my collection, but there were a couple of new ones in this envelope.  I got a kick out of this one, as Ames had a few department stores in the area I grew up in back in the day.

How's that for an awkward expression on this Nomar Garciaparra USA Baseball card?

A nice shot of the "Flyin' Hawaiian"...well...flyin!

Here's one from the 1990 Score Young Superstars set.

Last, but certainly not least, this fantastic Mootown Snackers Roger Clemens.  I have the Will Clark from this set but Roger here is my first Red Sox card.  Thanks for the injection of new Sox Night Owl, any Red Sox cards I don't have are always welcome!  Best of all, this package got me over the 3,400 unique Red Sox cards threshold.  Not too shabby.

The other small envelope to arrive recently was from the man who sends out more PWEs than possibly any other, Douglas of Sportscards from the Dollar Store.  The envelope contained a trio of great Whalers cards.  This Gordie Howe, which was part of some Black Friday giveaway from Panini a couple of years ago, was the only one of the three that I already had.  Not to worry, as this will be shipped off to a new reader of the blog that I owe some cards to.

This Emerald Ice Kevin Dineen parallel didn't scan worth a damn, but looks great in person.  The Whalers are the perfect team for an Emerald parallel.  It's pretty awesome that Douglas thinks of me any time he pulls a Whalers card from a repack.

In closing, a card I was not expecting whatsoever, a 1993-94 Donruss Brian Propp!  Somehow I don't have a copy of this junk wax era card, but making this particular version even cooler is the fact that it's autographed by Brian himself!  1993-94 was Brian's lone season with Hartford.  It also happened to be the final season of his NHL career, and he would end up logging both is 1,000th game and his 1,000th point in a Whalers sweater!

Thanks for the cards gents!

Glad I found so many you needed. We veteran team collectors are hard to shop for sometimes.

I really miss Ames. They were a great store, but I don't remember either of the two I would frequent carrying cards. I have great memories of walking through the store with my family though.
