Quick trade post today, featuring the latest PWE to arrive at my doorstep from my buddy Mark Kaz of This Way to the Clubhouse.
Inside were 9 brand new Red Sox cards for my ever-growing collection. Even though Mike Stanley is clearly depicted with the New York Yankees here, he's listed with the Sox, so it counts.
Bill Hall's only season with Boston was 2010, when he appeared in 120 games for the club, swatting 18 home runs and 46 RBI.
I completely missed the boat on 2014 Donruss baseball, as I'm not generally a fan of unlicensed sets that cant' show logos. For that reason, this is just my second Red Sox card from the set and is much appreciated given that I probably would have taken forever to track this one down myself.
Probably my favorite "card" in the PWE was this Colgan's Chips Disc insert from 2013 Panini Cooperstown. I've admired these on many other blogs over the past couple of years, and this is the first one I've ever held in hand. Great concept for an insert set.
I still need quite a few '01 Topps Sox, as I wasn't collecting at all at that time. Mark has hooked me up with a few cards from this team set in prior packages as well.
I was a little confused by the numbering on this card, which starts with 'F-...', but thanks to Zistle I found out this is from the 1993 Fleer Final Edition set. I'm guessing this was their equivalent of a traded or update series at the time.
Believe it or not, there are still 1992 Donruss cards that I need!
Last but not least, my second time owning a Daisuke Matsuzaka rookie from 2007 Artifacts. When I first got back into collecting back in 2007 I picked up a complete set of this stuff for like $10 on eBay. I disliked the cards and ended up selling the set to another unfortunate soul, again via eBay. I never replaced any of the Red Sox cards, though I've always meant to, so Matsuzaka here is a great start.
Thanks as always for the cards Mark. My Red Sox collection once again benefits from your thoughtfulness. I hope the PWEs I sent your way last week make it out of the New England snow and down to Delaware safely!
10 Years of Cardboard History

Can you believe this has been going on for 10 whole years now? When I
started Cardboard History back on November 22nd, 2014, I actually didn't
expect I ...

Once I organize the last twenty years of Sox cards.im going to send a buch your way. Ran into John yesterday at his daughters hoop game. My nieces play on the same team .. Needless to say there was a lot of card talk.
Yeah, Artifacts just isn't a design that is very pleasing to the eyes, is it?
Got one of the PWEs today. Awesome, as usual. Chock full of Seavers!!
Mark (Hoyle), so random that you bumped into John. Hopefully you have a chance to get by his shop soon and pick up some of those Upper Deck Vintage singles from the quarter bin.
Mark (Kaz), glad it made it safe and sound. Those cards all came from the quarter bin of the shop owned by the guy Mark Hoyle referenced in his comment above. :-)
