Buyback Franken-set: Friendly Foes!

Just a quick, single-card post today, as that's about all I have time for.  Seems like a perfect opportunity to show off a whopper of a buyback I recently acquired for my franken-set project.  Behold!

1964 Topps #41 - Friendly Foes (McCovey/Wagner)

I scooped this one up off of eBay for $7 and change, making it one of the more expensive single buybacks I've picked up for the project to date.  I don't mind in the least though, as I'm a total sucker for the Topps multi-player combo cards from the '50s and '60s, and have seen precious few of them in buyback form.

Add to that the fact that one of the two players on this one is a HOFer, and this card is definitely one of the cornerstones in my set as I approach the 50% complete mark here.

Best of all, I was lacking a #41 buyback in the binder prior to this, so the card also gets me a step closer to my goal of finishing this franken-set off.

Here's one more look at the "Friendly Foes".  I truly couldn't be happier with this buyback, and I'm virtually certain it will never be bumped from slot 41 of the franken-set binder!

Franken-set Progress:  383/792 (48%)
"Rejected" Buybacks:  173
Total Buybacks in Collection: 556

Looks like I missed a great McCovey card. If you ever decide to break up the set or on the off chance there is a better #41 card out there to replace it with, please let me know as this would fit nicely in my McCovey collection.

Nice Pick Up!

Looks like that will be a hard one to unseat.

That is a gorgeous one. I love those 60s multi-player cards, too. Picked up the 1960 Reds Heavy Artillery with Frank Robinson at a show this week (not in buyback form).

Actually bought a high-numbered buyback for you this week, too...but, sadly, I don't think it will make the set. It's 1987 Greg Pryor, number 761...turns out you've got a Jerry Remy there, and even if you weren't a BoSox fan, Jerry Remy > Greg Pryor. Oh, well. I'll keep it for you and hopefully find some other buybacks to put together an envelope for you!

I'm a big fan of those multi-player cards Topps produced in the 50's and 60's as well. Awesome addition to your set!
