Fivers - Netminder's Nightmare!

Fivers is an aptly named series of ongoing posts, each of which will feature a single card that cost me $5 (give or take).  Today's entry is from a small eBay order I put in a week or two ago as a reward for making it through the first few weeks of sheltering in place.  It was actually $5, exactly...

Yes, it's my latest Parkhurst hockey card!  All five of the cards in this small order were actually vintage Parkhurst, including the two I showed off last week.

This particular gem is from the 1954-55 set, and I just love the in-game hockey action cards from these releases.  I love the giant, unorganized cluster of players bearing down on the net in this one, as the puck skids off in the foreground.

Yes, there is a surface crease going through the entire card top to bottom about 2/3 of the way to the right, but this is still a fantastic looking vintage hockey card in my eyes.  If I could find wrinkled versions of all the '50s Parkhurst I still need that looked this good for $5 a piece, I'd snatch 'em all up.

The write-up is spectacular as well, as is the case with so many of these.  Click for a larger version if you'd like, it's worth the quick read.  If you want to practice your French you can give the bottom half a shot.  It's not every day that you hear the term "squeeze play" in reference to ice hockey!

That's all I've time for today, thanks as always for stopping by!

I'd buy that card all day and night for $5! Nice pickup!

Love game action shots...actually a rarity to see on cards, since they are always focused on just one player, as you know...but to me that makes it just so much better!

You're right. The write up on the back was awesome. You couldn't pay me to stand in net.
